Obituary for Marlene Beda Drury

Print
Peacefully, in her own home, surrounded by her children and husband, Beda Drury passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018. Born Marlene Doell Neumann in Forest Grove, Oregon, she moved with her family to Ohio, Alberta and finally to Winnipeg - where she met Wayne Drury 50 years ago at the University of Manitoba. As she tells her story: "I have been richly blessed in my 70 years. During that time I have been married to, loved and adored Wayne, and he has adored me. I have raised three beautiful, smart, funny, interesting children - Martha (Daniel Velarde) in Mexico City, Josh (Carrie Simpson) in Las Vegas and Emma (Chris McIlwraith) in Winnipeg. I have seen two of my granddaughters come into this world (Charlie Drury and Abigail McIlwraith); and two granddaughters (Madison Beale, oldest daughter of Carrie Simpson, and Winter Oberg, daughter of Pierre Oberg, my son from a previous relationship) who do not live in Winnipeg but who I have been blessed to know. I have been surrounded and loved by a host of friends (The Grackles and the storytellers and the neighbours) who have been helping us through these difficult times. I know they will continue to look after my dear ones after I have gone." At her request, there will be a potluck celebration of Beda's life at 200 Dromore on Friday, September 28 between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
