Obituary for Adeline Agnes Larsen

Adeline Larsen
April 16, 1934 — March 22, 2023

We lived in Churchill, Manitoba, where mom worked for a time at the Officers Mess Hall in Fort Churchill. In the summer she had a bus set up at the Harbor Board, where she sold Hot Dogs and snacks. She also helped with dad’s business called, Artic Enterprises, as well as taking care of seven kids, which kept her very busy.

In 1973 we moved to Winnipeg, with only a few of us left at home. Mom worked for a number of years at the Health Science Centre and then moved on to Arne's as an accountant. As time went by and mom was on her own, she resided for a number of years at Kiwanis Courts in St. James, an area of the city where she always felt at home. She was always up for going to garage sales, shopping at Dollarama or Giant Tiger. At home she would curl up in her comfy chair with a good book, or watch one of her favorite TV shows, such as, Big Bang Theory, British comedy, or Championship figure skating.

She especially enjoyed dining out with family or friends to some of her favorite restaurants, which included, Red Lobster, Chicken Chef, Joey's, Tim Hortons and Wendy's for a frosty.

Mom loved to go berry picking and spend quiet times gardening. Among her past times, she would listen to music, such as the Three Tenors, which included Luciano Pavarotti, whom was her favorite, as well as the occasional Gaither Gospel Hour.

Sadly, Dementia set in, and life was not the same for mom, or the family. She was a strong-willed woman with determination and fought it all the way. Now we say good-by to our mother, whom we love dearly, and will miss her all of our days.

In loving memory of Adeline, a cherished Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great-Great Grandmother. Her presence in our lives brought so much happiness and comfort, and it is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye.

Adeline was the heart of our family, a true symbol of love, strength, and resilience. She always showed kindness and love, which brightened the lives of everyone around her. Even though we will miss her presence, her legacy will continue to live on through her family for generations to come.

We find solace in knowing that Adeline had the opportunity to meet and spend time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and even her great - great grandchildren. Her memory will be kept alive through her love, kindness, and caring spirit that touched the hearts of ever one who knew her.

May she rest in peace, and her family will always cherish the wonderful memories that she left behind.

MOM

You made our meals, mended our cloths, put up the chore chart and kept us on our toes.

You made sure we did our homework before we went out to play.

Your baking was delicious, and in its hiding place, it would not stay.

As we grew older and all went our separate ways, it was always nice to go to moms for dinner, together, like we did in our younger days.

As the years passed, it was always priority to visit mom whenever we could.

It didn't matter what we talked about; it was like she always understood.

Sadly, mom's life took a turn, and for us, we were not prepared.

so we did our best to help her daily, our thoughts and concerns we shared

We watched as your mind silently faded into memories past.

A beacon of light from yesterday was all your eyes would cast.

Your voice became a whisper, bed side visits became the norm.

God saw your weary heart, and he came to take you from your earthly storm.

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone, for a part of us went with you, that day, when God called you home.

We long to hear your voice, telling us, that you are ok, no longer can we hold you,
so in our hearts you will stay

Mom you were the sunshine in our lives, the heart that held us together.

Rest now in the arms of Jesus, when it is our time, we will see you then, in Glory,
Forever
