Obituary for Alan Leslie Willey

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Alan Leslie Willey, March 25, 2020.
At 69 years old, loving husband to Ingrid for 45+ years, cherished father of Ann-Marie and Kristina, proud grandfather to Nicholas, Madison, and Abigail.

Alan was stricken with ALS shortly after retiring. After a last trip to New Orleans and a one-week cruise, he was happy to relax at home. When things became more challenging, Alan adjusted to each change with the utmost aplomb, grace and acceptance. Being a man of great faith, he put his fate firmly in God’s hands. This helped him get through his changed life.

Alan loved helping his clients in his career as a commercial lender. He was a casually competitive sports player in baseball, squash and golf, who loved watching the Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bomber games, especially the Bombers Grey Cup win in 2019.

Some of his favorite things were going for ice cream during Sunday family visits, working out in the garden, doing crosswords, sudokus, card, board and solitaire games. Alan was a thought-ful person, saying something if it was a contribution or worth saying and listening to.
He will be dearly missed by his many family and friends, remembered fondly, and respectfully, by all who had the honour and pleasure to know him.

Many thanks to Nicholas for all his help and time spent with Grandpa, the ALS Society of Manitoba, Palliative Care Manitoba, his homecare workers, and the MND clinic staff and clinicians at Deer Lodge Centre.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held once travel is again safe for all.

Donations can be made In Memory of Alan to the ALS Society of Manitoba or ALS Society of Canada.
