Obituary for Alvin Norman Cooper

With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Alvin Norman Cooper on August 8, 2020 at the age of 94.

Al was predeceased by his first wife, Doreen (nee Baker) and his second wife, Barbara (Kriebel, nee Wyenberg), as well as his three siblings: May, Leonard and Dorothy. Al will be greatly missed by his children Randy (Pat), Lynn, Kim (Fitz), Lettie, Sandra (Rhoda); his grandchildren Joey (Kelly), Christina, Greg, Tiffany (Beau), Adam (Stacey), Andria (Justin), Aaron, Karmelle (Josh), Samara (Kaylan); great- grandchildren Owen, Emma, Keira, Keegan, Kellen, Willow, River, Arcadia; sister-in-law Carol, and many nieces and nephews.

Al grew up in Winnipeg’s North End and had fond memories of his childhood. From February 1945 – May 1946, he was a Lance Bombardier in the Canadian Army. Because of his love of cars and his handiness, he worked as a mechanic at Inman Motors. In the mid – 1960’s, he trained to teach auto mechanics and taught at both River East Collegiate and Kildonan East Collegiate. When Al retired, he enjoyed travelling to new places such as Paris, the Netherlands and St. Thomas as well as his favourite haunts in Santa Monica and Deadwood. He was an avid golfer, built and flew radio-controlled airplanes, and enjoyed his time with family and friends.

A private celebration will be hosted by the family.

Heartfelt thanks to Neil Bardal Funeral Centre for their counsel and compassion.

Donations may be made in memory of Al to Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.
