Obituary for Brenda Louise Anderson
Brenda Louise Malyon Anderson, 77, passed away at Gimli Hospital on April 27, 2022.
Brenda was born in Brandon, MB and grew up on the Malyon family farm in Glenboro. She survived polio at the age of eight and, during COVID, shared stories of her time in the polio ward. Brenda went on to study at Brandon University, where she obtained her teaching certificate and BSc in Biology. She loved to ride her Honda motorcycle while making many lifelong friends. In 1967 she accepted a teaching assignment in a remote town called Princess Harbour which changed her life. She met her lifelong sweetheart, Ed, and her new inlaws and friends. For over 50 years, she lived an adventurous life in the bush as a teacher, trapper, gardener, fisher, office manager, marina host and cook, postmaster, and triage nurse, all while wrangling two boys and running the family home. Brenda and Ed loved to travel and explored many tropical and not-so-tropical locations. For the last nine years, they transitioned to full-time living at the Waterfront Centre in Gimli. Brenda joined the board there, and they made many new dear friends and reconnected with past friends.
Brenda is survived by husband Ed Anderson, son and daughter-in-law James and Dawn, sister and brother-in-law Linda and Brian Naismith, niece Pam Driedger and husband Jim, nephew David Naismith and wife Anna, and many more loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She is predeceased by her son, John (2004), and parents, Gwen (1990) and Frank (1993). Following cremation, a celebration of Brenda's life will be held in the Summer of 2022.
