It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Connor (Durwin Pierre) Coutu on February 8, 2022. Connor's family was unprepared for this unexpected loss and are heartbroken. No one had a bigger kinder heart than Connor, a gentle giant who touched the lives of so many. He was a bright spark in this world and his infectious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Connor was born in 1973, growing up in Stonewall, Manitoba, spending his adulthood living in Winnipeg.
Like his Dad, he was artistically talented in many different mediums as well as a natural musician with the voice of an angel. Not only did he possess a green thumb, he also could charm any child or animal, being the one they would gravitate to in any room. He was the much loved fun "Uncle Dude" to his nephews and niece. Connor especially enjoyed the time he spent working at St John's Ravencourt School finding it rewarding interacting with the students, their families and the other staff. He never knew a stranger and would always make others feel welcomed. He had a great sense of humor and a talent for putting others at ease. Anyone that truly knew him, knew he had such a big heart. He was generous and considerate of everyone even to his own detriment. He could make anyone laugh even his big sisters while he had fun being a "pesky little brother".
He was resourceful and had a mind for unique problem solving. He demonstrated this talent early in life. One example that is often shared to the chagrin of his sisters is the time they were all playing tea party outside but were told they had to stop going in and out of the house to get more water for the "tea". Cashing in on having a little brother, the girls and their friend sent Connor to sneak in the house to get the water, counting on Mom not to scold him. Unfortunately his sisters did not realize that he was still too short to reach the taps. Not wanting to disappoint his big sisters he applied his problem solving skills. He made several successful trips delivering the ice cold water to his sisters before Mom caught him scooping the water out of the toilet bowl. Because Mom also shared his wonderful sense of humor, she did not share this fact with the girls until they were much older.
Connor loved his family and they knew it without fail. He did so much to be there for Dad during his illness being a great comfort and support to Mom. For this his Mom and sisters will be eternally grateful.
He is survived and greatly missed by his Mom Vivian, sister Nancy-Tina Coutu, sister Bonnie Schultz (Sean); nephews Garth Coutu, Keenan Schultz, niece Chloe Schultz, partner Amber Coulombe and her son Adam in addition to many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. He is now with predeceased Dad Emil, grandparents, several uncles, aunts and cousins.
Due to current pandemic protocols, plans to gather are on hold for now. We hope that others will share their memories here in tribute to Connor."
