Obituary for Daniel James Tretiak

Daniel James Tretiak
August 24,1941 – January 20, 2022

Peacefully, in his 81st year, on January 20th, at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg.

Dan is predeceased by his wife Yvette (2019) of 53 years. He is survived by his children Heather and Doug, and siblings Bob (Ruby) of Gimli and Karen of Montreal. He will be missed by many other family members and friends.

Born in Winnipeg and raised in Broad Valley, he met Yvette in Fisher Branch and they were married on June 5th, 1965, in Oakburn, Manitoba. They started their married life in Broad Valley and moved to Winnipeg in 1969. He was a mechanic at Auto Haulaway for 27 years as well as the best handyman anyone could ask for. He also mowed the perfect lawn.

After retiring, he and Yvette travelled. In Manitoba, overseas, and numerous trips to Ontario and the US to visit Heather and Doug. The timing of these trips were always dictated by what season the gardens were in. They spent many summers at their trailer in Broad Valley tending to the garden there where he truly felt at home.

After Yvette's death, he resided at The Rosewood in Winnipeg for two years. It was there he met Phil Hayes who not only was a companion but became a true friend and member of the family. His last year was spent at Middlechurch, where he was treated with compassion and dignity.

A private family gathering will be held in Broad Valley.
