Delia Schwartz
1935 -2023

Born November 19, 1935, in Winnipeg to John & Katherine Kelln. Affectionately known as mom, grandma and auntie D.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Katherine, her brother Norman and her daughter-in law Leanne. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her three kids, Garry, Wendy and Darrell (Debi) seven grandchildren-Jeremy (Haley), Megan (Kyle), Aaron (Melissa), Emily (Corey), Sarah (Nic), Lucas and Owen (Deidre) and four great-grandchildren, Akaylia, Kreston, Wyatt and Gabe.

Delia grew up in the north end and was very involved in her church and Luther League. Mom’s faith stayed with her throughout her life sustaining her through many hard times.

In her teen years mom taught Sunday school and became the girl guide leader at Christ Lutheran Church. She loved singing and sang in many choirs through the years.

Mom worked at the Winnipeg Clinic for many years all the while having us kids. She moved on to working for Lutheran Life Insurance retiring from there at age 65 years.

Her retirement years were filled with babysitting grandchildren, grand puppies and working at Luther Home.

She loved sitting in the sunshine and all the sounds of nature. Many years were spent at Luther Village while her children grew up and flourished.

Thanks go out to Red River Place in Selkirk for the care and affection they showed mom the last three years. A very special thank you to Donna & Mike Smalley who were there with her throughout the years and at the end.

A memorial service will take place on Monday, December 4 at Good Shepherd Luther Church, Selkirk, at 1:00 PM.
