Obituary for Doreen Hildebrand

Our beautiful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marjorie Doreen Hildebrand (Doreen) passed away peacefully on March 16, 2020 at the age of 95. She is finally home to be with her Lord and Saviour.

Doreen was predeceased by her loving husband Henry, brother Jack Ritchie, and sister June Viscount. She leaves to treasure her memory her children, Andrew (Valerie), Joanna (Ray), Daniel (Denise), Ruth (Darrel). She will be missed by her grandchildren, Carolyn (Colin), Farris (Evan), Hannah, Victoria, Molly, Matthew, Marlee, Mason, David (Teslimah), Katie (Sam), Daniel, Jacob and Joy. She loved her great grandchildren Austin, Riley, Oliver, Ayden, Noa and Egan.

Doreen lived her entire life in Winnipeg. She was loving, independent, hardworking, charitable, tenacious and loving. She had a smile that would light up a room. She was a self taught piano player and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. Her artistic side always shone through in so many ways with painting, needlework, knitting and crocheting. When her husband Henry passed away unexpectedly at an early age Doreen built a very successful daycare business out of her home. She took care of hundreds of children over a period of 15 years and was a second mother to many in the neighbourhood. She retired at 65 and always said her retirement years were the best years of her life. She was faithful in visiting the elderly and comforting those in need. She was blessed to be able to stay in her family home until the age of 87 and continued to reside in assisted living for another 6 years. Her last two years were physically challenging and she received loving care at Calvary Place nursing home.

Doreen’s faith was her strength which carried her through life’s up’s and down’s. Her daily mission was to spread the gospel to anyone who crossed her path. She was faithful to her Lord and never shied from expressing her joy and happiness in her salvation.

Thank you to all the caregivers who lovingly cared for her during her years at Lindenwood Manor and Calvary Place.

Interment will be at Brookside Cemetery.
