Obituary for Dorthy Harling

Dorothy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28 following a short illness at West Park Manor.

Dorothy was born in Skipton,Yorkshire, England to Sam and Eleanor Walker. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, in-laws Ralph and Agnes Harling, husband Russel, brother George (Skipton), niece Christine (Skipton) and son-in -law Gary.

Dorothy is survived by her children:Ralph(Suzanne),Susan(George),Fred(Chrystina),Rosemary, and Jon(Janet);grandchildren Sean(Alex),Scott(Heather),Danielle,Vanessa(Jim),Matthew, Alex and Peter(Tara); great grandchildren:Josh,Sam,Isabelle,Sophia,Joseph, Simon, Elizabeth, and Grace, and sister Joan Walker.

Dorothy grew up in Skipton,walking the moors with her family from a young age, a habit that would sustain her for the rest of her life .During World War 2 she joined the WAF(Women's Auxiliary Forces) where she met Russel, married in England and came to Canada as a young war bride. She lived with her in-laws who treated her as a cherished daughter, something she always appreciated. Mum lived a happy life in Winnipeg surrounded by family and friends, always enjoying a good read, especially a good mystery book.

The family would like to thank the staff of West Park Manor for taking care of her needs, especially nurses Wang and Nancy and manager Lorelee.

Dorothy's Celebration of Life will be held sometime this summer.
