Obituary for Florence Annie Lanyon

Florence Annie Lanyon passed away in the morning of November 23, 2020 at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Mum was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Preceded by her husband; Richard Lanyon, Mum will be sorely missed by sons; Bruce, Roger (Barbara), grandchildren; Andrea (Jason), Allison (Rui), and Trevor (Shereese). Mum will be missed by great grandchildren; Alyssa and Zeffea who always brought the biggest smile to her face.

Mum loved all things Canadian and was proud of her British heritage born in Bradford England September 17, 1924. It was here mum developed her skill as a professional seamstress. To say mum was a seamstress was a massive understatement, mum did magic with her sewing machine and serger. Mum was also a knitter, knitting bonnets, helmets and sweaters for numerous relatives and friends for birthdays and Christmas. Mum was also an amazing cook known by the family for her Cornish pasties and sausage rolls. Mum could make a sandwich, bowl of soup and a glass of milk look and taste like a three course meal.

Mum talked proudly of her service in the land army during WW 11, where she met and married dad. Mum received a medal for her service in the land army.

Mum enjoyed her time at Sandy Hook in her little trailer. Mums story telling was unique if she was telling a humorous story mum would start laughing halfway through unable to finish leaving everyone in stitches.
We would like to thank all doctors’, nurses and aids for the care they provided mum.

As per mum’s wishes she has been cremated and due to Covid a small immediate family internment will take place.
