Obituary for Frank Wilson

Frank (Francis) Joseph Skaptason Wilson
1946-2023

With his wife by his side, Frank Wilson passed away in the early morning hours of February 8, his 77th birthday, after a life filled with many warm relationships.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Helle Zeidler Wilson, his mother, Johanna Wilson, his mother-in-law, Anna Marie Zeidler, sisters, Joanne Morris (Bill), Carolyn Levesque, sister-in-law, Lenea Zeidler (Mogens), nephews and niece, Glen Morris (Ashleigh), Grant Levesque, Diane Drawbridge (Stephen), Raymond Levesque, Nicolai Zeidler Iversen and Michael Zeidler Torp-Iversen (Emma), and great-grand nieces and nephews, Pamela Drawbridge (Ryan), Hilary Drawbridge, Andrew Morris and Arthur Zeidler Torp-Iversen.
Frank was predeceased by his father Alexander Francis (Frank) Wilson, father-in-law Frank Zeidler, and brother-in-law, Ray Levesque.

Frank was born in Winnipeg. He attended Daniel McIntyre and the University of Manitoba. He obtained his master’s degree in science and took doctoral studies on the Cyclotron. He worked his whole career at Vincent Massey Collegiate, remaining a member of a retiree's friendship group, and was Head of the Mathematics department before retiring in 2001.

For many years, Frank embraced his Icelandic heritage by using his flair for numbers as volunteer treasurer on the Board for the Betel Home Foundation, which operates personal care homes in Gimli and Selkirk.
He thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge and was a bridge mentor/teacher for many people, most recently for members of the Charleswood Senior Center. For numerous years, he also hosted the Jon Sigurdsson Chapter IODE Bridge fundraising events. Frankly speaking, it can be safely said that his many friends will miss his wise and often witty "teachable moments" in life, as well as in bridge!

Frank and Helle have been blessed with almost 30 years of marriage and have enjoyed many trips to the US, Iceland and Europe.

Memorial gifts may be made to an association/organization of your choice.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 2 pm at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue in Winnipeg.
