Obituary for Gary Edward Moore

GARY EDWARD MOORE

On Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Vista Park Lodge Nursing Home, our Father and Grandfather passed away at the age of 82.

Gary was predeceased by his Father Fred in 1983, Brother Ron in 1993, Mother Phoebe in 1999, his wife of 56 years Jeannine in 2018 and his Uncle Charlie in 2019. Left to remember Gary are his Son Cameron (Marci), Daughter Lesley-Ann (John), Grandchildren Quinn, Mac and Danny, Kathleen and Emily; Sister and Brother-in-law Annette and Henry Foures. Also lifelong friends Noel and Helga Wilson and family, and countless more wonderful friends.

Gary was a Regional Sales Manager for Alcan-Price, E.H. Price and later Apel Extrusions Limited. Retiring in 2002 after 38 years of dedicated service. Gary could often be found puttering around in his backyard cutting the grass, weeding the garden and to his wife’s dismay trimming the trees and bushes. He loved sitting outside on his deck enjoying the fresh air with a drink in hand and the sun on his face. He took great pride in the appearance and up keep of his home. Another of Gary’s passions was his love of Football, having played back in High School for the Daniel McIntyre Maroons, The St. James Rods, and later with legendary Coach Robert “Buddy” Tinsley and The St. James Rams. He was a member of the 1963 St. James Rams when they won The Dominion of Canada Senior Football Championships. The team was later inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.

We would like to thank family physician and friend Dr. Brian Sharkey, for always treating our Mom and Dad with kindness, compassion and dignity.

Thank you to the staff at Vista Park Lodge Nursing Home, notably the doctors, nurses and caregivers on the second floor. Dad was a very proud, independent man, facing challenges living with dementia. You were able to keep him safe, comfortable and cared for. This brought our family peace of mind to know that he was well taken care of.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Gary’s memory to The Winnipeg Humane Society.

He will be forever loved and missed.
