Obituary for Harold Michael Slegers

With sadness, we announce that Harold passed away accidently at Pelicanpouch Lake, Ontario.

Harold is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Lauren, mother Wilhelmina (Mensing), sisters Mary-Anne and Caroline (Trevis Boyd), and brother Reg, along with nieces, nephews, in-laws and many friends & colleagues.

Harold was a gifted Mechanic. There wasn’t anything motorized that he couldn’t fix. Taking good care of all his vehicles and toys was very important to him.

Harold’s main career was with Air Canada Maintenance. After leaving Air Canada, he was very proud of the fact that he was able to start a new career in HVAC and become a “50-year-old Apprentice” and then a Red Seal HVAC Journeyman.

In 2003, Harold and Susan bought property at Pelicanpouch Lake. Harold had to learn some new skills because not everything is mechanical. Together with Susan and Lauren, they built a beautiful cabin, a true “off-the-grid” retreat. This was the place that Harold loved to be the most, especially when he was there with his girls, Susan and Lauren.

Harold was proud of the work that he did and the accomplishments of his family, especially those of his daughter Lauren. He will be missed by many and the stories of his adventures will be shared for a long time to come.

We would like to thank the Kenora Division of the OPP for their thorough search in November and to the HEART Team who were able to recover Harold.
