Obituary for Helen Yurkowski

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen on April 1, 2020 at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. Helen will always be remembered for her strong will and loving heart. Her biggest soft spot was for children. She would do anything for children.

Mom was a very big part of our growing up. She never missed any of her daughters’ softball games rain or shine, she was our loudest cheerleader. Having family and friends around were extremely important to her. Whether it was holiday dinners, baseball windups or just the kids from the neighborhood, our house was the meeting place.

Helen was predeceased by her loving husband Peter; her mother, father and brother in Germany, as well as brothers and sisters-in-law.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Darlene Hargot (James), Dianne Kroll (David) and Kathleen Lovie (Merv), as well as her grandchildren Courtney and Kerry Hargot.
She also leaves to mourn her sisters Nadia and Lydia (Canada), Maria and Johanna (Germany); sisters-in-law Effie Yurkowski, Nellie Yurkowski (Canada)and Waltrand Kusitsch (Germany), as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be postponed to a future date when circumstances allow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2528 King Edward Street, Winnipeg MB or a charity of your choice.

Mom, you will forever be our Moonshine. Looking forward to the many talks we will have when the moon is shining.
