It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Irene at the age of 79, on December 17, 2022, after a brief stay at Oakview Place.

Irene was born in Winnipeg on September 27, 1943. Irene was predeceased by the love of her life, husband, Klaus, daughter, Christine, brothers-in-law, Glen and Guenther, sister-in-law, Dolores and parents, Molly and Ed Kasper. She leaves to mourn her passing her sisters, Alice Shaw, Shirley Demetrioff, and brother Bill Kasper along with nieces and nephews, Diane (Lawrence), Doug (Lesa),Darlene (Don), Debbie (Jim), Fred ( Elsa), Darcy, Rory ( Ramsina), Pearl-Leah, Alex and Nadia and her cherished great nieces and nephews Graeme (Morgana), Jennifer (Kyle), Derek(Colin), Jessica (Craig), Karina (Garett), Kevin, Isabelle, Joshua and Jillian and by her close friends Elsa and Taeko.

Irene was the youngest of four, born to immigrant parents from the Ukraine. She became a Type1 diabetic at the age of 13 and credited Dr. Samuel Steinberg for saving her life. She worked for Standard Aero and then made her career move to Bristol Aerospace working in the Test Lab for over 30 years. She met her " Schatzee ", Klaus, at the German Club. They were married on October 30, 1971, during a snowstorm. He was her Treasure. They vacationed in Florida and spent many wonderful weekends at their cottage at Lac Du Bonnet where they entertained countless friends and relatives.

Irene took pride in remembering birthdays and special occasions and would be the first person to give you a call and sing you "Happy Birthday". She was always grateful for a visit from family and friends especially from her nieces' grandchildren.

A special thanks to the caregivers at River Ridge and Oakview Place, who showed care and compassion to Irene.

There will be a family celebration of Irene's life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or St Amant Centre.
