It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Janet Lee Hiebert (Taylor) on April 5, 2021, at St. Boniface Hospital. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered by her husband of 47 years, David Bryan, daughter Lindsay (Trevor), son Jaret (Nadine) and grandchildren Lucas, Aubree, Wyatt, Quinn, Elliot, as well as many extended family members and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents William and Ina Taylor and her brother Bill Taylor.

Janet was born and raised in Winnipeg MB. She attended Tec Voc High School and went on to work for the Winnipeg Police Service. She met the love of her life, Bryan Hiebert, on a summer day while swimming across the lake at St. Malo. They married in 1973 and started their family. Janet was a dedicated wife and mother. She was a stay at home mom while the kids were small and once they grew older she worked at Woolco, Walmart and then Pineridge Hollow where she met many dear friends and spent her paycheques! Janet was the kindest most caring, thoughtful soul. She always put others first and volunteered through Big Sisters of Winnipeg, volunteered her time to provide transportation for seniors to their medical appointments, Windsor School lunch program, Lunch Lady program as well as Windsor Community Club Tiny Tots program. She also spent several years providing care to her grandchildren when Lindsay worked part time and made lasting memories while developing a very special bond with Lucas and Aubree.

Janet enjoyed going to concerts, dancing in the kitchen, playing games, camping, travel, spending time at the cottage, and above all spending quality time with family and friends. Many gatherings, outings, girls' trips and vacations were taken with friends and family and we were lucky to have had the opportunity to go to Disney World and Mexico with the entire "Brady Bunch" family as we lovingly nicknamed our rare and special extended family.

We will miss daily "Mom phone call check ins", warm hugs, paint nights, Skip-Bo games, her delicious cooking (especially her Rice Krispie cake and cream puffs), "tea as it should be", Tim Horton's dates on the rides home from school, McNally Robinson lunch dates, her cheerfulness and beautiful smile, seeing her standing in the window or front door waving goodbye, receiving additional gifts long after the occasion as she had forgotten purchasing or where she had hid it, carefully selected cards with her swirly handwriting, silly snapchat filter photos, leaving the dinner clean up until the next morning in order to spend more time visiting, our cheerleader and biggest support in life, and her beautifully coordinated wrapped gifts - everybody could always pick out which gift in the pile was from her!

The Footprints Prayer
One night I had a dream…
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and
across the sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand;
One belonged to me, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of my life flashed before us,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
There was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in my life

This really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
You would walk with me all the way;
But I have noticed that during the
most troublesome times in my life,
There is only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why in times when I
needed you the most, you should leave me.
The Lord replied, “My precious, precious
child. I love you, and I would never,
never leave you during your times of
trial and suffering.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre and above all, please take time to spend with loved ones, make lasting memories and take no second for granted.

I clearly remember Aunt Janet at her winter wedding - she was so happy and beautiful. With her dark hair and white dress, she looked like her own version of Snow White. Through the years, whenever I saw her, she was always smiling and welcoming with an open and genuine heart. She loved to laugh, and was very thoughtful. I spoke on the phone with her about a week before her sudden passing and will cherish that I had that opportunity. I am grateful to have had the gift of her as my Aunt, and send deep condolences to Uncle, Bryan, Lindsay & Trevor & family, and Jaret & Nadine & family... remember that you are always surrounded by family love.

I have some lovely memories of a lady I was privileged to call Auntie. She joined the Hiebert clan when I was a youngster and what I recall most from those early years are her beautiful smile, sparkling eyes and joyful laugh! Once I reached adulthood, I was blessed with invites to join Auntie Janet and my Mom when they would go out on lunch dates and enjoyed catching up whenever the families had opportunities to gather at Grandma's or the cottage. This winter, while in Manitoba, I was fortunate enough to spend time chatting on the phone with Auntie Janet and so enjoyed seeing her in person too. I will always remember her thoughtfulness, generosity and tender heart!

My condolences, hugs and prayers go out to you Uncle Bryan, Lindsay & Trevor, Jaret & Nadine, Lucas, Aubree, Wyatt, Quinn and Elliot.
