Obituary for Jennifer Mary Boyd (Kingswell)

Jennifer Mary Boyd
(Née Kingswell)

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Jennifer on August 6, 2022 with her loving husband by her side.

Jen was born on August 10, 1948 in Bournemouth, England to Roy and Mary Kingswell. She immigrated to Canada when she was 13 years old where she attended Sargent Park Junior High school and Daniel McIntyre High School. She met Ron, her husband of 54 years, at the corner store and together they built a wonderful life.

After dating three years they married and went on to have two children, Tammy and Dallas. Jen and Ron lived in Pointe Du Bois, Manitoba for a short time before settling in the St. James area of Winnipeg. They lived there for 20 or so years before retiring their last 25 years in Sandy Hook, Manitoba.

Jen enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting. If you were lucky enough to receive one of these blankets consider yourself truly privileged because it was handcrafted with love and the talent ends with her.

During the golf season, Jen happily worked serving at Sandy Hook Golf Course. Jen and Ron enjoyed their winters in Texas where she would spend her tip money buying all her Texas star decorations and hitting all the quilting stores or Hobby Lobby.

Jen loved to dance and she won trophies with the Ken Mathews dance studio. She was also known to tear up the dance floor at numerous socials or weddings in her time.

She loved her grandchildren and the weekends they spent out at the Hook will be remembered forever. She always brought home chocolate bars for them after working her shift at the golf course.

Jen was a lover of all animals, she embraced her furry grand babies and was always happy when they visited. Before Ron and Jen adopted Pearl, their bulldog, at the start of COVID she would keep a stash of dog treats for the neighborhood dogs and run out when they would walk by.

Jen’s memory will be cherished by her husband Ron, daughter Tammy (Mark) Williams, son Dallas (Cheryl) Boyd, grand daughter Caitlyn (Joel), grandsons, Landon, Coby and Ty as well as numerous family and friends.

Jen has been cremated and a private family gathering will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family ask you to have a rum and coke and share a memory.

MISS ME BUT LET ME GO

When I come to the end of the road
and the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long
And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone,
It’s all part of the Master’s plan
A step on the road to home.
So when you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds

Miss me, but let me go.
