Obituary for Kathleen Mary Sheppard

In the early hours of March 2, Kathy passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Kathleen leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Doug, son, Chris (Jen), grandsons, Jake & Ben, and her loving sister (Susie) Colleen (Larry) and numerous cousins. Kathy was predeceased by her mother Lenore (1982), dad Harry (1982) and her very special grandparents John (1981) & Mary Hill (1983).

Kathy grew up in River Heights and attended Grant Park High School where she met so many friends along the way, and her sister and best friend was always close by. She was the backbone behind Doug’s success in running Convertible, later Accent Pools. She brought these talents to Portage Cartage for 17 years where she worked up until retirement.

Kathy loved gardening, which was evident by her luscious back yard that she spent countless hours perfecting. She always enjoyed spending time with neighbours and friends, always the first to lend a helping hand. Kathy also loved to travel, especially with friends such as Bill & Kathy Brooks to places such as Hawaii, Florida & Arizona to name just a few. Just as much, Kathy looked forward to coming home to shower her loved ones with the treasures she brought back. Possibly her greatest joy was being a nana to her two grandson’s and cherished spending time with them. Kathy’s passing has left a hole in the hearts of all who knew her but can find comfort in the fact that she is now at peace.

Thank you to the many health care workers who have made the last two and a half years much more manageable.

A small family service will be held with a Celebration of Life to follow at a later date once Public Health orders allow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
