Always in our hearts.

Passed away peacefully, at home in her 103rd year. Beloved wife of the late John W. Boychuk, loving mother of Janet Hebert (Marcel) of Winnipeg and mother-in-law of Gwenda Boychuk. Predeceased, (always loving memories) by her son Jerald Boychuk. Cherished grandmother of Daniel Hebert (Kirsteen) of Ottawa, Marc Hebert (Emily) of Winnipeg, Samuel Boychuk (Annie) of Malaysia, and Emily Hartwig (Adrian) of New Zealand. Proud Great Grandma of Hayden and Roan; Elsie and Kinsey; Esther, Elizabeth, and Debra; Claire, Ellie, Michelle and Josh.

Lena was kind, generous and had a solid foundation. She was an inspirational storyteller for her four generations of our family members. In her well-lived, long life, she was the child of Saskatchewan pioneers. She grew up in a small but safe structure constructed of prairie sod, spruce poles and field stone with her three siblings Mary, John and Fred. She hated to see stones (of any size) on modern day landscaping; “I’ve picked them off the fields” she would say. The life of this prairie pioneer was hard, and it prepared her to start and grow a business in the new north with her husband John. As new pioneers in Flin Flon, a town full of bigger stones, they made a rewarding life, and raised their family. Lena was athletic and competitive, with high expectations. She loved sports, especially curling. She also loved following current events. With a passion for the news, she had her informed opinions. Friends and family scattered across the globe were always welcome, with many taking side trips from vacations and time from busy schedules to drop in and visit. These were special days for sure. Her great grand-daughters, Elsie and Kinsey, always came with a special treat for Baba when in fact they were the special treats. There were “those girls,” Cyndy and Lisa, who with Janet, always provided laughter and entertainment until the next visit.

Heartfelt thanks to all those whose compassion will not be forgotten. Special thanks to her home care provider Tiffany.

Lena was a woman of faith, and at 102, she was tired. She believed God will take her hand and lead her back to Johnny and Jerry.

In light of present circumstances, a celebration of life will be held at a later time in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Please honor Lena’s memory by taking care of one another.
