Obituary for Ona Houston

Ona Houston was born in Chipman Alberta on February 22, 1924 and passed away on April 9, 2020. Ona was predeceased by her loving husband Herbert Houston of 66 years, her parents, sisters Margaret, Annie, Mary, Carrie, Eustace and Frances, brothers Peter and Joseph. She is survived by her nieces Jean and Susie and their families.

She is also survived by her daughter Janet Froese (Richard), granddaughter Kimberly Carrick (Curtis) and grandson Ryan Froese. She was blessed with a great- granddaughter Aurelia. Ona will be missed.

Ona was a secretary, wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing tennis, golf and bridge with her husband. They were instrumental in founding the Hamilton Tennis Club. Ona was a championship bridge player along with her husband in London, Ontario. She resided in her home in London, Ontario for 48 years before moving to Winnipeg to be closer to her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Thank you to the staff at the Charleswood Care Centre for making Mom’s last few days comfortable. Much gratitude to the doctors, nurses, care workers and special staff at the Victoria General Hospital. A special thank you to all the workers at Lindenwood Manor for their compassionate care. She truly enjoyed living there.
