Obituary for Raymond Richard Quinn

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Raymond Richard Quinn. Ray passed away at Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday Sept 28th 2022, with family by his side.

He was born October 10th 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Sylvia Quinn. Ray grew up with four brothers and one sister. He leaves behind his loving wife Roberta along with all their children and grandchildren.

Ray began his career in Chicago in the cleaning industry before being transferred to Montreal, later moving to Toronto where he started his own company, Quinterra in 1988. Quinterra continues to be a thriving property maintenance company with clients Canada wide.

Ray loved to entertain playing host to many grand parties over the years. In retirement he couldn’t wait to get to Florida for the winter, where new and old friends and family were always welcome and popping in for cocktail hour, often staying till the wee hours of the morning.

He had many adventures in life, knew how to enjoy the little things and was a great storyteller (and self proclaimed singer).

One of Ray’s greatest joys in life was watching the Chicago Cubs, his beloved “Cubbies”. From his early days working at Wrigley Field, cleaning the fan stands to earn tickets to the next game, to finally celebrating a World Series win in 2016, he was always looking forward to their next game. In 2003 Ray got to throw out the first pitch of the game at Wrigley Field! He later visited Chicago for playoff games with Roberta or his son Mark with his grandsons.

To those who knew him he could always be counted on if you needed a helping hand, a listening ear, or someone to sing along into the night with while sitting around the table with friends. He surely will be fondly remembered and missed by many.

Cheers, till we see you again, Ray.
