Obituary for Sandra Thusberg (Hume)
SANDRA THUSBERG
1940 - 2021
With sadness we announce the sudden passing of Sandra Joy Thusberg on April 5th, 2021. Sandy rejoins her husband Victor who predeceased her only one year earlier. She leaves to carry on, son David, partner Diane, granddaughter Sydney, and last but not least her beloved cat Joey.
Mom was born Sandra Hume in Winnipeg in 1940, and apart from a few years in Florida in the 1970s, lived her entire life in Winnipeg. Early years were spent with sister Rose, and cousins Nancy and Maureen. She worked in the family drugstore and lunch bar on Corydon Avenue, eventually training and becoming a dental assistant. In 1963 she found her partner for life, and together she and Vic enjoyed a robust and energetic life, continually surrounded by numerous friends and family. Their travels around the world were extensive with numerous trips to Finland and almost 6 decades of summers at the family cottage in Pointe du Bois MB. Sandy enjoyed daily walks in her lovely neighborhood of Armstrong Point and was friends with all the neighbors.
In recent years, Sandy and Vic were tirelessly cared for by Natalie, who with matchless dedication helped them upkeep their robust life until their last days. The family is very grateful for Natalie’s help and also thank Deedee who assisted and provided a new home for Joey.
A celebration of Sandra and Victor’s life well-lived will be held sometime in May or June on a date to be announced.
