Sidney Rosslyn Matthes (Bell)
November 14, 1949 – May 8, 2022
Sidney passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and embraced by her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Malcolm and Evelyn Bell and her beloved husband Bob. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Christie (Dean) Schinkel, David (Brandy) Matthes, Elizabeth (Mark) Gojkovic, Daniel (Theo) Matthes and precious grandchildren, Eric and Amber Schinkel; Gage Trudel and Emerson Matthes; Victoria, Evelyn, Stephanie and Melanie Gojkovic.
Sidney is also survived and loved by her sister Alix (Don) Mathieson; brothers Randy (Lorenda), Jim (Inga), Don (Janice), Gerry (Janice), Harold (Barb); in-laws Phil and Val Matthes; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
Sidney originally trained as a teacher and spent some time in the classroom. Most recently she worked as the Coordinator of Volunteers at Grace Lutheran Church where she met many special people.
Sidney was a passionate seamstress and paper crafter. She completed her Apparel Design Certificate in 1996 and spent many hours sewing beautiful projects for herself and her grandchildren.
Sidney’s greatest pride was her family. She dedicated her life to supporting and caring for them and she will be remembered for this love and devotion.
A private family memorial will take place at a later date.
Sidney recently received several blood transfusions which helped her to live comfortably in her final days. She was eternally grateful for this gift and encourages everyone who is able to donate blood.
