Trudith (Trudy) Yvonne Gislason

On Sunday November 6, 2022, Trudy Gislason, passed away at the age of seventy-five in Winnipeg at the The Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre.

Trudy was born on October 23, 1947 to Walter and Verna Naslund in Eriksdale Manitoba. She grew up on the family farm in Mulvihill Manitoba with her sister Marlyn Orobko. Trudy married the love of her life Stephen in 1966, going on to have 3 children, Greg, Paul and Julie.

Trudy was a compassionate person and in 1975, she began her career in nursing after completing her Licensed Practical Nurse training. As an LPN, she worked for a short time at Health Sciences Centre and later at the Grace Hospital. In 1998, Trudy completed the Registered Nursing program. As an RN, Trudy worked at the Grace Hospital and Deer Lodge Centre until retiring in 2007.

Trudy grew up in a musical family and enjoyed playing the piano. She was also an excellent baker and had a passion for knitting, crafts and dancing.

Trudy’s family and friends were very important to her and she enjoyed spending her time with them. During the summer months, Trudy spent many weekends visiting with the extended family at the cabin on Lake Manitoba (Stephen’s childhood home). Trudy also enjoyed her many trips to Vancouver to spend time with her sister Marlyn. Together with Stephen, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren as they were her pride and joy, whether it be during family dinners, school performances or extracurricular sport or musical activities.

Trudy was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Verna, and her sister Marlyn.

Trudy is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years Stephen and 3 children: Greg (Melek) and daughter Sloan with Susan; Paul (Gweneth) and son Tyler; Julie (Ryan) and children Saige and Brody.

Trudy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be sadly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 19, 2022 at 1100 am at Neil Bardal Funeral Home, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3H 1B9. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
