Obituary for Virginia Marie Braunstein

On December 16, 2020, the best mom and a most wonderful human being passed away.

Virginia Braunstein passed away in the loving company of her daughters and granddaughters.

She was predeceased by her husband, Murray Braunstein. Virginia was devoted to her five children: her two predeceased sons, Erroll and Randy, and her three daughters, Gayna, Alayna and Arolynn.

Virginia was born in the small town of Boggy Creek. She was the youngest of 17 children and was the last remaining child of Elise and Alexandre Lavallee. Mom was an independent minded woman who taught her children many valuable lessons. She accepted all, and often said, “people are just people”. Mom also was adamant that a tea bag had more lives than just one. Mom’s grandchildren loved talking with their grandmother about life and relished in her wisdom. Mom was not only wise, but she had a most wicked and endearing sense of humour. She loved to kid around. She was a true artisan who could sew, knit and create almost anything. Her children remember the loving presents that she would make by hand. Virginia was also known for making delicious dinners and desserts that continue to be enjoyed by her family. Virginia made everything from scratch and enjoyed using her own garden produce. Virginia was also known for her sense of style. She kept up with modern fashion. She was still rocking leather pants well into her 80’s.

Virginia will be deeply missed by her daughters, Gayna, Alayna and Arolynn; her son-in-law Don; daughter-in-law Kathleen; her granddaughters, Dia, Toren, Riel, Keeley, and Elowen; her grandsons, Anders and Austin; her great-granddaughters, Sophia and Aurora, and her nephews and nieces, friends and her caring and kind Charleswood family. She can still hear you Gordie. Virginia had her last dance with her special nephew, Brian.

We would like to thank her home care aides who were a great support to our family.

“Listen to the wind and know that I am near.”
