Obituary for David Andrew Orlikow

David Andrew Orlikow
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Orlikow, known affectionately as “Buddy Dave”, on July 20, 2016, at the age of 47 years.

Dave was born on March 25, 1969 in Oakville, Ontario a whole 5 minutes older than his twin brother John. He was predeceased by his father Lionel, in 2008, and is survived by his Mother, Anne, his beloved daughter Maggie, his brothers Gord (Lois), Dan, Peter, sister Nancy (David), twin brother John (Silvia), and sister Kate (Yitzy). As well as seven nieces and six nephews, numerous cousins, and a wide array of friends.

Dave had an infectious laugh and playful spirit, that despite the medical issues that plagued him from an early age – he didn’t let his illness diminish him or define him. He was the embodiment of courage and strength, and he approached his life with a sense of joy and fun.
Dave attended Sacre Couer full French immersion from Kindergarten to grade six, River Heights Junior High, and Kelvin High School. He went onto pursue his post-secondary education and completed a Baccalauréat en Education from the Universite de Saint-Boniface, in St. Boniface. Dave had a special way with young people and people in general, and loved being a teacher. He worked for the latter portion of his career in adult education, and helped many adults complete their high school educations.
While his time on this earth was too short, we are all better for his time here.
We will always remember him in our hearts.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Sunday, July 24th at Earl’s on Main,
191 Main Street, Winnipeg MB from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. All welcome.
