Obituary for George "Sr." Stevens

GEORGE S. STEVENS George S. Stevens passed away peacefully on January 8, 2006 at Deer Lodge Hospital in Winnipeg at the age of 87 years. George will be sadly missed by his children, Louise (Larry) Humeniuk, George (Barb), Terry (Carrie) and Grant; grandchildren, Bill, Jeffrey, Jill, Michelle, Jarrett, and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Braedon and Emma; brother Terry (Barb) from Saskatoon; sister-in-law Myrtle Geske; brother-in-law Albert (Marge) Brusegard from Calgary; and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Dorris (nee Brusegard) who passed away in August 1997; parents, Margaret and Hugh (Curly) Stevens; and brother H.L. (Len) Stevens. George was born in Winnipeg on July 3, 1918. He spent the greater part of his life in Winnipeg. He also lived and worked in Toronto for almost 20 years. He served overseas in the Second World War and prior to retirement, he worked for the Province of Manitoba, Department of Labour. George enjoyed time spent with friends at the St. James Legion and he was proud to be a member of the Masonic order. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Deer Lodge Hospital. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate George's life will be held on Friday, February 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue, Aubrey Street entrance.
